Could It Happen Again?

Remember last Spring's Facebook campaign to get Betty White to host SNL? Well, there's another one that just went active over the weekend to convince Lorne Michaels to have another legendary icon to host SNL, Stan Lee of Marvel Comics.

This should be great because if Stan does in fact get to host the show, he'll replace alleged host Lindsey Lohan (rumored to host the Dec. 4th show) who failed yet another drug test.

EDIT: The film now has a 59% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so you're screwed Forte.

BREAKING NEWS: Conan O'Brien to host talk show on TBS

Courtesy of the fine folks at AP:

Conan O'Brien to make TBS his new late-night home

NEW YORK (AP) - Late-night mainstay Conan O'Brien is headed to TBS to resume his comedic duties with a talk show expected to debut in November, the network says.

The program will air Mondays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. Eastern, shifting TBS' "Lopez Tonight," starring George Lopez, to midnight.

Monday's surprise announcement hit the same day O'Brien starts a two-month, nationwide comedy tour in Eugene, Ore., amid persistent reports that he was likely to claim Fox as his new late-night home.

Barring Fox, syndication was widely considered O'Brien's most likely option. Few if anyone mentioned TBS as a plausible destination.

O'Brien began serious talks with TBS just last week, the network said.

"In three months, I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I'm headed to basic cable," O'Brien said in a tongue-in-cheek-toned statement. "My plan is working perfectly."

O'Brien left NBC in January after hosting "The Tonight Show" for just eight months, as his ratings plunged from those of his longtime "Tonight" predecessor, Jay Leno, who reclaimed the hour. Until last June, O'Brien had followed Leno as host of "Late Night" since 1993.

OBrien's parting deal bars him from appearing on TV until September.

Everyone on SNL from Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford to Darrell Hammond as Bill Clinton to host Jim Carrey (filling in for the late Phil Hartman) as Ronald Reagan, every U.S. President that was lampooned on the show since 1975 banded together for a film for a website called FunnyorDie.com which is directed by Oscar winner Ron Howard, who also hosted SNL in 1982.

Former SNL Band bassist has died. Tom "T-Bone" Wolk, 1951-2010

http://themusicsover.wordpress.com/2010/02/27/t-bone-wolk/

It's a sad day indeed. Other than USA losing to Canada for the Gold Medal, longtime SNL viewers will have something to mourn about. Earlier today, I've learned the sudden passing of former house band bassist, Tom "T-Bone" Wolk, from a message that I got from a Hall and Oates mailing list that I subscribe to.

T-Bone had died of a heart attack last night. Other than a member of the SNL Band, he'd worked and toured with Carly Simon, Shawn Colvin, Joe Pesci (Yes, that Joe Pesci), Rosanne Cash, Elvis Costello, etc.. He was 58.

SNL On Hiatus until Feb. 27th

Because of the forthcoming Winter Olympics coverage on NBC, SNL will be pre-empted until Feb. 27 when Jennifer Lopez will do double duty as host and musical guest that night.

Until then, read my previous post about what to do when SNL's pre-empted during the Olympics, both Summer and Winter.

BTW, do you think Lorne Michaels should get Shaun White to host in March?

Missed last night's Laser Cats?

You're in luck because the digital short is now available on Hulu.

In case you're wondering, this installment makes a lot of allusions to previous Cameron films such as Terminator 1 & 2, Aliens, and yes, Avatar.

Did SNL make fun of NBC on purpose?

One thing John Kramer forgot to mention was that Seth Meyers, at the end of Weekend Update, informed the viewers to either call 1-800-RED-CROSS and/or go to http://www.redcross.org to help the survivors of the recent Haitian earthquake.
